I have really enjoyed the language exchange here. I've realized lately that I can understand so much more now than I could when I first came. The same goes for the kids in my class. They have picked up so much English very quickly.

One of the things I like most about Cofradia is talking to all the children in town. They are always so sweet and so willing to have conversations with us. It's really fun to get to know people and how they live and learn more about their culture. I feel like I'm learning something new about Honduras every day.

Food & Futbol

Normally I try to stay away from the fried food here, but I like the enchiladas. They're completely different than what I knew as enchiladas in the States. Baleadas are also undoubtedly one of the best foods I've had here… especially with fresh avocado!

Maratón is the soccer team I'm rooting for down here because that was the first team I saw win a game. Also, I think their bright green jerseys are fun. Another weird coincidence was that I saw the whole team in the Miami airport the day I came to Honduras…that should have been my first sign I guess.

Future plans

I would love to continue working to help better the education for kids in Latin America. I have been very inspired here to see that so little can go such a long way.

I would also like to promote social tourism in Central America because I feel like both sides benefit so much from it. People can visit, help out and share their culture while learning about the culture here and then returning to their own country to educate others.
