Read an interview with Elisa, the mother of a student at Amigos de Jesus, to hear her thoughts on her child’s progress, her hopes for the future, and why she chose BECA for Marlon’s education. Scroll down for a Spanish version!
Q: How long has Marlon been at Amigos de Jesus Bilingual School?
A: Three and a half years.
Q: Why did you choose Amigos de Jesus as a school for your son?
A: We saw that it was a very promising option. We didn’t know much about the school, but we had heard of the children’s home, which works very well. So, we are involved in the school because of the education that BECA provides. We want a good academic future for our son.
Q: What advances have you seen in Marlon?
A: I have seen him advance greatly as a person. In terms of education, when my son entered the school, he didn’t know how to read or write. After beginning kindergarten, he learned how to read in both English and Spanish and how to do math. He is very advanced for his grade. His grades show this because they are really high scores and we’ve seen that he responds well to what he has learned. He has a lot of knowledge.
Q: What do you like most about the school?
A: The education is not comparable to any other school. The school is working to instill values and morals, which is very good. I think that these are the most important things for becoming a good citizen. I see that it takes a lot to raise good men and women. The education is just really, really good. It’s excellent.
Q: What are your wishes for your son?
A: I see him as a man with values and morals and as a good professional. I know that with the cooperation of God, the school, and us as a family, we will be to achieve this. It’s all a cycle. Nothing can happen without the initial steps. There’s no point in the school’s teachings if we don’t practice it at home. I see my son as a good man with values, a good professional.

A: Marlon Israel Paz
Q: Por cuanto tiempo ha estado Marlon en la escuela Amigos de Jesus?
A: Tres anos y medio
Q: En cual grado esta?
A: El esta en tercer grado.
Q: Porque escogió Amigos de Jesus como una escuela para su hijo?
A: Porque vimos que era una opción muy prometedora. No teníamos mucho conocimiento sobre la escuela pero lo poco que sabiabamos era por el hogar y el hogar funciona muy bien. Entonces por eso estamos por la educación por BECA. Por un buen futuro intellectual para nuestro hijo.
Q: Cuales avances ha visto en Marlon?
A: Como persona he visto un avance bastante. En la educacion cuando mi hijo ingresó en la escuela no sabía como leer, escribir y practicamente el empezó con prepa entonces el lee muy bien tanto ingles que espanol, matematicas. Todo los conocimientos de él están muy avanzados de acuerdo con su grado. Las notas lo dicen major porque son buenas notas y vemos en esto que el responde. Tiene muy buenos conocimientos.
Q: Cual es la cosa que le gusta mas de la escuela?
A: En la educacion no tiene nada que envidiale a otra escuela. Y esta formando los valores morales. Son muy bueno. Pienso que es lo mejor para ser un bueno cuidadano. Veo que hace mucho para formar buenos hombres y mujeres. Y en la educacion muy bueno, bueno bueno. Excelente.
Q: Que quiere por su hijo?
A: Lo veo como un hombre con muchos valores morales. Un buen professional y yo sé con la ayuda de Dios primaramente lo vamos a hacer. Con ayuda de escuela y nosotros como familia. Todo es un circulo. No va una cosa mas que otra. No sirve que una escuela esta ensenando si en la casa no practicamos. Yo veo mi hijo como un buen hombre con valores, con principios, un buen professional.
