It’s finally here, it's happening! I never imagined myself doing something this hard and challenging. Going back to my student years, I remember how excited I always felt about the first day of school. Firstly because I got to hang out with my classmates whom I consider my brothers and sisters, and secondly because I got to know my new teacher.
My BECA experience began in April of this year, when I was scrolling through a job database provided by my university, simply out of boredom. I stumbled across a listing for the BECA Summer Camp, and immediately emailed the program asking for further details.
Summer Camp and volunteering with BECA provided me with more memories and experiences than I could have ever imagined. I took a lot away from my time in Honduras and I learned a lot about myself in just 3 and a 1/2 weeks. Here's a glimpse of what I gained from my Honduran adventure with BECA:
How did you get involved with BECA?
My junior year in college I decided that I would spend the summer working for an NGO that did work in education or community development. Through some peers I learned about a search engine called “idealist” and after a few hours of searching I came across BECA. The rest is history
Where is your favorite place that you’ve visited in Honduras?
My favorite place I have been to in Honduras is Cayos Cochinos. I have never seen such beautiful Islands or clearer waters.
