Growing up in Nebraska, the Christmas season is always cold….very cold! So, in Honduras, I usually forget that it is even December, let alone Christmastime. Yesterday it was 89 degrees—not very wintery! However, the families that we work with go above and beyond to make us feel loved during this season (and always).
After just a few months into my first year as the fourth grade teacher at Amigos de Jesus (ADJ), I knew I would be back for round two.
I have always enjoyed Thanksgiving as a day dedicated to gathering with family and friends and eating massive amounts of amazing food. Each year I value more and more the opportunity to come together and celebrate one another as well as the effort it takes from all parties to make this day a priority.
After spending two years in the classroom, I decided to fill a different role for my third year with BECA. As the Santa Monica administrator, I take care of a lot of the behind-the-scenes work that needs to get done so that teachers can focus on teaching their students, and not have to worry about what’s going on outside their classrooms.
How did you find out about BECA?
