On Friday, we celebrated “Teacher’s Day” in Honduras. It was pretty special that the first “Teacher’s Day” that I have experienced in my life is as a teacher.
Steph and I have had a lot of funny things happen in our prepa/kinder classes so we decided to start a list so that we can have something to look back on when we need a good laugh.
Some ‘instances’ that have made the cut include:
I have a new best friend. He’s only seven and he doesn’t speak that much English, but he is still my best friend. His name is Josue and he is in second grade at SJBS. I can’t quite describe what brought us together.
On Friday, after Dia Del Nino, I left with a group of teachers on a bus to Tegucigalpa, the capital city, to see a group of guys that we have befriended who are part of a band called “Montuca Sound System.” This group of guys is very special. They are very politically minded and worldly and really fun to be around.
The past week and two days has been a tough one in my classroom. But, as part of SJBS we hold weekly upper school meetings to discuss any classroom problems we have or any other thing that should concern us all.
