About Anna Carson
Anna Carson began her international education and language teaching career as a student teacher at
the Centro Colombo Americano in Barranquilla, Colombia. After completing her bachelor’s degree in
International Languages and Cultures from Antioch College, she went on to get her New York State
Spanish Language Teaching Certification and complete a master’s degree in International Relations,
Regional Affairs, Latin America. Over the next ten years, she taught English and Spanish in 5 th through
10 th grade in the United States and Panama and taught English as a Foreign Language to graduate
students at Cornell University. Anna went on to serve as director of the English as a Second Language
Program at the International Center for Language Studies (ICLS), in Washington, D.C., where she
welcomed students from over fifty countries. She now serves as the director of the Foreign Language
Division at ICLS, which trains adult students in over 85 foreign languages, and as a Commissioner on the
Commission on English Program Accreditation (CEA). Anna is very proud of her bicultural and bilingual
family and loves to spend time with them enjoying the simple things in life. In her spare time, she enjoys
gardening and kayaking.
