At 10:00 a.m. last Saturday morning, most people in Cofradía were huddled around their fans, desperately trying to escape the searing 100+ degree heat oppressing the outskirts of San Pedro Sula. Well, all except for a small group of people: the BECA volunteers.
The ingenuity, resourcefulness, and superior budgeting of this year’s team resulted in a spectacular addition to the apartment living space: an indoor pool. I mean, who wouldn’t want to spend the day lounging indoors, swimming with friends, sipping on banana and mango smoothies, and looking out your plexi-glass window at the towering mountains in the horizon? Exactly. This was something that needed to be done. And as you can see from the photo above, we decided to go big or go home. Jealous? Yeah, we know.
Okay, chiste chiste. The pool in the photo above is from Google Image. Let me tell you what really happened:
You see, the week before, Miss Stephanie and Miss Sarah found themselves at the famed City Mall, meandering among its many aisles of treasures — when all of a sudden, fate intervened. Standing before them was a 12-foot wide and 3 -foot deep inflatable pool boasting beautiful pictures of sharks and fishies swimming merrily along its edges. Immediately and instinctively, the two of them knew what they needed to do. Quickly acquiring a 4-foot tall inflatable basketball hoop (complete with an inflatable basketball), they grabbed the pool, picked up a pump, and headed straight for the check-out counter. They carried their goods with them via taxi back to Cofradía, and the rest was history.
Hands down the best way to beat the heat.
