Steph and I have had a lot of funny things happen in our prepa/kinder classes so we decided to start a list so that we can have something to look back on when we need a good laugh.
Some ‘instances’ that have made the cut include:
A kid pooping their pants
A kid being unsure whether the puddle of pee on the carpet/concrete floor belongs to him or not (even though his pants were completely soaked)
Having a random “new kid” join our class only to find out that she is actually at the wrong school
Today we had yet another instance to add to the books and one that I feel is particularly blog worthy. At around 12:23pm I was contemplating how I wanted to spend the remainder of my 20 minutes of lunchtime when Erin (who was on lunch duty by my classroom) walked up to the table. I was about to compliment her on how much I liked her dress when she cut me off by saying “You have kids locked inside your classroom.”
Great. My keys are inside as well. I immediately arose and sought out Steph to see if she had her keys.
“Steph do you have your keys?” No Response, just a look of horror. “Steph..do you have your keys?!” Again, no response, same look of horror. Now at this point I knew that she did not have her keys and had in fact figured out what had happened. It is prepa for god’s sake so anything is possible with these kids. I grabbed one of the master key sets and quickly headed out to my classroom.
My room was surrounded by parents and little five year olds banging on the locked door. As I approached half of my class ran towards me to inform me that the door was locked and Neyzer, Daniel, Valeria, Luis and Anderson were inside. I could hear Anderson screaming “AYUDA!! AYUDA!!” (help!! help!!) at the top of his lungs and Neyzer cackling in the background. Neither of these thing are good by any means.
Imagine my excitement when the master key couldnt open the door. I left to get the second set of master keys from the office with a trail of 3 giggly girls who followed me and made sure to let all the big kids know that our class was “trapped.”
Got the second set of keys and of course there wasnt a copy of our classroom key. What kind of system are we running here?!
Back outside the classroom…
”Daniel! Put that down! Daniel! Daniel, I need you to put that down we don’t play with the teacher’s things.” – Stephanie
“Ok guys, listen. We need you to slide Miss Stephanie’s keys under the door so that we can open the door.” (Instead, Christian who is outside decides to slide a picture he has drawn inside the classroom) “Good! Look! Like how Christian is doing!” – Norah
Daniel begins to slide the keys under the door. The keys are halfway out. Erin goes to grab for the keys when Daniel decides to pull them back because, of course, this is much funnier.
“AYUDA!!! AYUDA!!! Jajajaja” (jaja = haha = laughing) – Anderson
“Boys!!” – Stephanie
The door opens. Luis has somehow figured out how to unlock the door from the inside. The five kids run out and begin to scream “Libertad! Libertad!” (Freedom! Freedom!) as they run around in a circle.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you Prepa class 2010.
