This was the first question that came to my mind when I was looking for a job, why BECA? At this moment I thought back to all the memories and moments I spent at school with my BECA teachers. One of the reasons that I decided to work with BECA was so that I could give back to BECA for all the opportunities they gave to me when I was a student at San Jeronimo Bilingual School.

I’m currently studying psychology with a specialization in education at college. This was another one of my motivations to start working with BECA.  Knowing that I’m putting into practice what I’m learning at university with my job with BECA –  and that in some way I am helping  my students achieve their full potential, is something that motivates me everyday.  Also knowing all the work that BECA does for their students and community and that I get to be a part of it, is really inspiring.

I have always had in the back of my mind that I would like to have my own NGO one day. Like BECA, my NGO would be dedicated to helping people with low resources,(or who don’t have an  income)  and provide them with a quality  education that they would not otherwise have access to. Knowing that BECA is an organization  that helps people by giving them a better education and more opportunities is ultimately why I’m with BECA. BECA has the same mission and vision that I want for my future NGO and I’m learning a lot about what it would mean to have my own NGO one day.

Bessy Sagastume is from Honduras, she is currently studying Psychology in orientation to education at college. She is an SJBS graduate (2015). For Bessy BECA gave her a lot of opportunities that she has been able to experience in life.
Bessy decided to work with BECA in 2020, she first started as a substitute teacher and in that same year she became the first grade teacher. Now she is actually the first grade teacher for this coming year. For her, working with BECA has been a great experience and challenge at the same time, but she knows that all the effort she is putting into her work is for her students and for her dreams.
She wants to help BECA to accomplish their mission and vision, and go above and beyond as a teacher so she can be that change that her country needs.
