There was nothing like the Spirit of Christmas in 2014,
For all the students, teachers, parents and Sisters Augustine.
From Vida Nueva to Brisas, all the colonies they came,
With their families and friends and relatives the same,
To Santa Monica for a most joyous celebration
For every boy and girl and all their relations.
Artwork was hung from the classrooms with care
Whatever Christmas figure you can ponder, oh yes, it was there.
Stockings and snowflakes, Santas and snowmen,
Gingerbread men, all there for the showin’
Gracing the hallways of all grades, oh see how they glisten
Geometric Christmas trees of isosceles and then, just listen
To the festive sound rising in the air and falling on our ears,
‘Twas 13 bilingual Christmas Carols and no reindeer.
Why, for over a month the students had been rehearsing
Their carols to sing today, and there was no reversing
The joy that came from this simple celebration
Which each class made through lovely harmonization.
A carol in both languages, two carols per grade
From Prepa though 5th, each class had made
Their carols their own, happily singing with friends
Even the nuns and teachers sang their own carol at the end.
And then they all feasted on a tasty Christmas buffet
For at Santa Monica, you see, that ended the day.
‘Twas the end of the songs, the feast, and the celebration,
But it was only the start of their bilingual education.
To all friends and supporters of BECA and its partnerships, thank you! You are part of a Christmas which inspires poetry.
